During 2011 there was a breast cancer awareness campaing on causes, they petitioned to turn Facebook’s design pink, instead of the normal blue design, for 1 whole week to raise awareness to breast cancer world-wide.

Numerous Facebook scammers have tried to benefit from this topic since then, and recently there has been a new wave of “Pink Facebook Scams”.

The scam follows the usual path from here, the scammers want you to share their scam on your wall, by clicking share on their page and also commenting which will also show up on your wall and your friends’ news feeds.

After that the survey part appears and you have to complete various surveys to “unlock the content”. There probably is nothing to unlock though, as the scammers don’t care about you once you’ve shared their content and completed the surveys.

How to actually turn your Facebook pink

If you are using Firefox or Google Chrome you can install a simple add-on/extension that will alter the page code and apply a pink color overlay to the blue parts of Facebook. If you are using Google Chrome you are ready to install the extension, but if you are using Firefox you have to download the add-on called greasemonkey first, don’t worry this is a well tested and popular add-on for FireFox, it allows you to run small scripts on the websites you visit.
Then go here to install the pink add-on/extension. Once installed try visiting Facebook again and voila your Facebook is pink!
